3:30 pm Market closing: The Nifty has ended above 7900, first time
after January 1. The 50-share index was up 64.25 points or 0.8
percent at 7914.70 and the Sensex closed up 189.61 points or 0.7
percent at 25816.36.

The broader markets continued to outperform benchmarks with the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rising around a percent each but the market breadth was slightly positive. About 1351 shares advanced against 1133 declining shares on Bombay Stock Exchange.
Infosys, Cipla, Bharti Airtel, HDFC and Lupin were top gainers
while GAIL, SBI, Hero, ONGC and ICICI Bank were losers in the Sensex.
