Nifty ends Feb series below 7000, Sensex weak on Rail Budget Day



Infosys, L&T, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, SBI, Axis Bank and Maruti Suzuki were top negative contributors' to Sensex, down 1-3 percent while HDFC, Sun Pharma, ONGC and Coal India gained 2 percent. 
Dragged by a disappointing Rail Budget and February Future & Option series expiry, market sentiment remained low. The Nifty ended down 48.10 points or 0.7 percent at 6970.60 and the Sensex was down 112.93 points or 0.5 percent at 22976.00. About 888 shares advanced, 1561 shares declined, and 169 shares were unchanged. 

ONGC, Sun Pharma, HDFC, Coal India and Hindalco were top gainers while SBI, GAIL, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank and L&T were losers.

IVRCL rallies 6%; to convert loans into 51% equity holding

The company has decided to convert part of their loans to the highways developer into a 51 percent or more equity holding.

IVRCL Ltd rallied 6% to Rs.7.45 after the company has informed BSE that State Bank of India, Monitoring Institution acting on behalf of the lenders has informed the Company that JLF at the meeting held on February 23, 2016 have approved the SDR conversion package and that the Lenders will convert part of the debt of the Company into equity, in one or more tranches, at the price of Rs. 8.765/- per equity share of face value of Rs. 2/- each, enabling the lenders to collectively hold 51% or more of the total share capital of the Company, pursuant to provisions of SEBI (Issue of Capital and Disclosure Requirement) Regulations, 2015 read with RBI Circular on SDR. 

The stock is currently trading above its 200 DMA.

S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 23,056 down 33 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 6,998 down 20 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.22% at 9,675, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.18% at 9,703.


Lupin, Sun Pharma, Tata Motors, M&M, ICICI Bank and ONGC are among the gainers, whereas Adani Ports, Bharti Airtel, NTPC, Axis Bank and ITC are losing sheen on BSE.
Some buying activity is seen in metal, capital goods, pharma and industrial sectors, while telecom, utilities, banking, auto and FMCG sectors are showing weakness on BSE.

Out of 1,765 stocks traded on the NSE, 646 declined, 689 advanced and 430 remained unchanged today.


A total of two stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 52 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The Indian rupee opened higher by 6 paise at 68.50/$ on Thursday against previous close of 68.56/$.

Sensex tumbles over 350 points; banking, realty drag

Finally BSE Sensex ended with a loss of 379 points at 23,410. The BSE Sensex opened at 23,850, touched an intra-day high of 23,852 and low of 23,370.
 
The NSE Nifty closed with a loss of 125 points at 7,110. The NSE Nifty opened at 7,240 hitting a high of 7,242 and low of 7,099.  Asian Paints is the only gainer on NSE, whereas Bank of Baroda, Cairn, Coal India, SBI, Yes Bank, PNB, UltraTech Cement and ICICI Bank were among the losers today.
 
The India VIX (Volatility) index was up 12.69% to 23.6875.   The mid-cap and small-cap indices fell over 1.3% each.

Out of 1,788 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,176 declined and 359 advanced today.


A total of eight stock registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 58 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

Aurobindo Pharma, Bharti Infratel, Tata Motors DVR rally after Nifty50 inclusion

The stocks that are going to enter the Nifty50 index are Aurobindo Pharma, Bharti Infratel,  Eicher Motors, and Tata Motors DVR. All the stocks are trading higher on BSE.

Aurobindo Pharma rallied 1.3%  to Rs.663.15 on BSE. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 38293.98 crore.

Bharti Infratel 1.6% to Rs.381.45. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 71200.88 crore.

Eicher Motors trading flat 0.4% to Rs.19,000. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 51408.24 crore.

Tata Motors DVR jumped 3.4% to Rs.249.65 on BSE.  Tata Motors is already a constituent of the Nifty50 index with its regular equity shares. Tata Motors' DVR shares got listed in November 2008.  The current market cap of the company is Rs. 12279.71 crore.

S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 23,693 down 95 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,221 down 22 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.21% at 9,856, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down 0.05% at 9,917.


Some buying activity is seen in metal, telecom and pharma sectors, while banking, power, FMCG, utilities and consumer durables sectors are showing weakness on BSE.

Tata Steel, Sun Pharmaceuticals, ONGC, Adani Ports, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, BHEL and Asian Paint are among the gainers, whereas NTPC, ITC, Bajaj-Auto, GAIL, Hero MotoCorp and HDFC Bank are losing sheen on BSE.

The INDIA VIX is up 5.83% at 22.2475. Out of 1,760 stocks traded on the NSE, 748 declined, 598 advanced and 414 remained unchanged today.


A total of four stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 13 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
